Each fall the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission awards artists in various fields. Kate nominated Dalton and he was given a posthumous special award on November 7th.

The Arts Commission asks local artists to create an award in their own media.
This year glass artist Vernon Brechja created two pieces, one for the desk and one for the wall. The buffalo print was an etching done on a glass plate.

Janet did a brave job of accepting and while we all sniffled it was a nice afternoon.
Kate made us laugh with stories of how Dalton would get a book from the art library and wait for gallery patrons. If they seemed interested he would engage them in a discussion about art. He redefined the job description of security guard, adding the public dialogue category.
The award was for both his painting and his music.
